Athar Jaber

Year: 2018 – ongoing
Material: Carrara Marble
Size: 10 x 17 x 33
Category: Sculpture

This marble sculpture is a performance piece. Inspired by the martial arts practice to repetitively strike a stone to strengthen the hands, this stone has been repeatedly slapped by Athar Jaber’s bare hands in an attempt to shape its form through experimental means other than the traditional hammer and chisel.

2018 – Offerings, National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba.
